Brewing tips from the roaster:

I have a fairly simple home brew set up. When I brew 20g of this coffee, I use an Origami or V60 with Hario V60 #2 filters. I like to stick to the 1:16 ratio which gives me 320g of coffee with a water temp of 96°C. I prefer a fine to medium grind which is #18 on my Baratza Encore. I usually go between three or four pours depending on how the brew is going to achieve a total brew time of 2m45s.

Underwhelming tasting notes. More on darker side. Chocolate and some sweet notes.

2024 Advent Day 1

I've tried Costa Rican Honey Processed coffees before, and I would characterize them as "good daily driver coffees taken to the next level". Nothing exciting or exotic, but a very approachable, rich coffee that can stand up to a little cream/sugar but hold its own. While piping hot, there is a strong black tea note that some may find enjoyable, but as the coffee cools, you get a very traditional chocolate (more dark than milk to me) profile but with a little bright acidic kick. What I like most about this process/origin is the full body and "decadence" you get without having to add any sweetener or flavoring. A splash of cream would bring this out even more.

Rich, caramel aromas from the beans themselves. Beans were very easy to grind with no chaff or retention, and basic V60 recipe at 205F and a medium grind worked flawlessly. No dialing in needed.

1st day of advent coffee

Wonderful cup to enjoy an F1 race to. I brewed it with the V60 330g of water and three pours including the bloom.
