Canada Post Strike: How this impacts your coffee shipments
As you may have heard, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) announced a national strike on Friday, November 15 at 12:01 a.m. ET.
Canada Post’s operations will shut down during this national strike. Mail and parcels will not be processed or delivered for the duration of the national strike, and some post offices will be closed. No new items will be accepted until the national disruption is over.
What does this mean for your coffee shipments?
We will continue to ship your orders out! Most of you will not be affected.
We work with a wide network of trusted carriers, which includes UniUni, FleetOptics, ICS, UPS, Purolator, GLS, and Canpar, providing you with multiple reliable shipping alternatives. We will select the best carrier based on your postal code to ensure that you continue to receive your coffees in a timely manner.
However, there are some areas that will be affected as Canada Post is the only carrier for that region (explained further below*).
That being said, please expect carrier delays as we enter into the holiday season and with the higher than normal loads caused by the Canada Post strike.
For subscribers to The Roasters Pack, your order will be shipped according to your subscription schedule. Your subscription schedule can be found on your most recent Order Confirmed emails, or accessible through our website at this page: https://theroasterspack.com/pages/the-roasters-pack-shipment-schedule
Who will be affected?
If your shipping address contains “PO Box”, “RPO”, “RR”, or “Rural Route”, we will not be able to process your shipments until the strike is over. These addresses are serviceable only by Canada Post and it is not possible for any other carrier to make deliveries to these addresses. If you have an alternate address that you are able to receive shipments at, we would recommend you to update your shipping address as soon as possible. You can update your shipping address by logging into your account and clicking “Edit” next to “Shipping Address”. Alternatively, please feel free to reach out to us and we will be more than happy to assist you in updating your shipping address.
If your shipping address does not contain “PO Box”, “RPO”, “RR”, or “Rural Route” and if you live at an address that is able to receive parcels from carriers other than Canada Post, you will not be directly impacted and there is no action necessary on your part.
Shipments already with Canada Post
Unfortunately, some of your shipments may already be in the hands of Canada Post.
If you have received a recent notice that your order has been shipped with Canada Post, and you have not yet received it, you will be impacted by this strike and your package will be delayed until Canada Post resumes their operations. All mail and parcels in the postal network will be secured and delivered as quickly as possible on a first-in, first-out basis once operations resume. However, processing and delivery may take some time to fully return to normal.
