Arita Sansuien has been crafting tea in Uji since 1949, building deep ties with farmers and insisting on hand-picked tencha — a rare, labour-intensive choice that shows in the quality of their hojicha. Whisked up, it’s dark like cocoa, with a smooth, edgeless mouthfeel and a sweet, woody finish that feels endlessly comforting.
